Dr Harald Schäfer
Dr Harald Schäfer is a member of the executive board of the Management Institut Dr. Schäfer & Partner (MIDS). After graduating from secondary school as the best of his age-group, Dr Schäfer studied business administration and law at the German University of Mannheim (Germany’s leading university for business studies) and, after receiving his degree, went on to earn his doctorate. While studying, Dr Schäfer was providing consulting services to businesses.
Since 1989, he has been presenting specialist seminars in business administration at the University of Mannheim, sermonized at conventions and trade fairs and worked as a lecturer at various universities. Moreover, he is an author of various manuals and specialist books. His first company, Management Institute Dr Schäfer & Partner, was founded in 1991 after a long business sojourn in the U.S.. Dr Schäfer provided advice to well-known businesses as well as law offices, concentrating on consulting, further education and leadership. Between 1994 and 2003, he was responsible for the European expansion of the largest purchasing services company in Europe with more than 100 subsidiaries. Recently Dr Schäfer worked as an interim manager of a listed investment company and as a board member in a real estate joint-stock company.
Besides his activities as executive director and board member he is an associate member of the Business Angels Panel and since 1999 even engaged in several projects as a Business Angel. From 2005 to present, he has been chairman of the Federal Association of German Consultants BDC e.V.

Dr Burkhard Schäfer
As the chairman of Management Institut Dr Schäfer & Partner (MIDS), Dr Burkhard Schäfer is responsible for the strategy and organization of the association. He started his business career while he was studying business administration and law at the University of Mannheim (Germany’s leading university for business studies). To complement his studies at the university, he worked with the "Deutsche Bank" and "Dresdner Bank", as well as with several service companies. At the same time, Dr Schäfer was an active member and a personnel officer of the "Arbeitskreis Börse" (working committee for stock exchange affairs) at the University of Mannheim. After receiving his degree, he traveled over the USA doing market research. Afterwards, he started working on his doctorate.
In 1991, he and his brother, Dr Harald Schäfer, founded the Management Institute Dr Schäfer & Partner, which mainly deals with the provision of business consulting (especially in the areas of strategic marketing, human resources and venture capital) as well as training and coaching for large-scale enterprises, federal parties and medium-sized firms. A fundamental part of his professional activities was the year-long setting-up of a European association system.
He has an international perspective, based in part upon his overseas experience. Dr Burkhard Schäfer is a well-known speaker at the IHK (Chamber of Commerce and Industry), federal associations, lecturer at several universities and since 1989, he has been teaching at the University of Mannheim. He is a board member of two publicly traded companies.
